Chellie Fernandez

Director of College Pathways

Chellie believes in increasing postsecondary attainment for boys and young men of color. As Director of College Pathways, Chellie oversees My Brother’s Keeper San Antonio and Diplomás. As a teacher, she saw firsthand the punitive impact punitive practices had on young people of color. She has a Master’s of Social Work from The University of Chicago, with a concentration in School Leadership in Community Schools. Her research explores the school-to-prison pipeline and alternative school discipline strategies, such as circle keepers and trauma-informed schools.
