San Antonio and Bexar County are rich with systems leaders committed to ensuring a more equitable future for the next generation. ‘Future Ready Bexar County’ is a plan to guide shared action. It provides leaders the shared language and practices needed to drive real progress towards a uniting goal: By 2030, we will increase postsecondary enrollment of Bexar County High School graduates in a degree or credential program to 70%. Future Ready Bexar County Plan Commitments
All partners will participate in the Future Ready Bexar County Plan in the following ways from 2022 through at least 2025:
Collect and share data needed to evaluate progress towards Future Ready outcomes
Use data to develop and refine programs and policies that drive towards equity and Future Ready outcomes.
Work with other Future Ready partners to strengthen community resources and postsecondary / career pathways for young people.
Work with other Future Ready partners to advocate for policy changes where relevant, allowable and beneficial.
Involve an intergenerational team from each organization to support the implementation of the Future Ready plan.
Leverage financial and/or in-kind institutional resources to support the implementation of the Future Ready plan, especially as it relates to the institution’s formal commitments.
Celebrate the progress of the Future Ready plan by spreading awareness about our efforts and advocating for others to get involved.
Governance
UP Partnership will lead a coalition of anchor institutions, including local philanthropic partners, to advance the goals of the Future Ready Bexar County Plan. Governing bodies of the plan include the Future Ready Leadership Table, Joint Leadership Table, Coordinating Committee, the UP Partnership Board of Directors, an Investment Management Committee, and an Executive Committee.
How Future Ready Bexar County Work Progresses
The following outlines key roles of major governing bodies of the Future Ready Plan.
Future Ready Leadership Table
A leadership table that consists of the top executive and a senior leader from each of the Future Ready partners. This table is supported by the Coordinating Committee and advances high-leverage strategies across cross-sectors in order to reach the Future Ready North Star goal.
Joint Leadership Table
An intergenerational leadership table that consists of a senior leader and a youth leader from each of the Future Ready partner institutions. This table helps partners to advance the action commitments they made when their organizations signed on to the Future Ready Plan, commitments that are tied to the plan's equity pillars of Healing, Access, and Voice.
Coordinating Committee
This committee is composed of Future Ready Anchor Partners. These partners are intermediaries who support multiple school districts through coordinated funding, innovation, and/or new postsecondary patheways. As Anchor Partners, these institutions are deeply committed to the achievement of the Future Ready North Star goal and equity pillars, including the embedding of more student-centered ways of working across our community.
