Kahlí believes everyone deserves a high-quality education. As a high school teacher, she was inspired by her students’ strength, intelligence and perseverance when placed in the right educational settings. Kahlí now uses research and evaluation to shed light on educational disparities and understand which solutions improve students’ self-beliefs, educational experiences and outcomes. Her primary research has focused on understanding school and neighborhood factors that shape educational outcomes in Latinx youth. She has also explored the impact of out-of-school time programs on youths’ success in STEM. Kahlí earned a Ph.D. in Applied Demography from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
